Seat Belt and its intention
Yesterday's news reported that a policeman was killed by an accident involved police 4WD and a Proton Waja. The incident occurred at one the tolls counter where the Proton's driver at high speed failed to break his car and smashed onto back of police 4WD causing the Constable police officer thrown out from his driver seat throght 4WD's front mirror. He died on the spot. What a tragic incident on reckless driver had had contributed to one of the family member loss thier husband. Kids loss thier father, mother loss thier son and brother and sister loss thier brother. My Al-Fatihah goes with him and his family.
This incident should be a good lesson for all drivers especially the laws maker of the intention of things that being put in place as the law must has its basic principal. As we all aware off, seat belt is a restrain tool install in the vehicle to minimise the impact of person who wear it during an accident or suddent impact occur. Under Malaysian's law stated that, the authories such as Police, JPJ, BOMBA or Ambulance driver do not require to wear seat belt while vehicle is on the move. I think the concept here is not right where seat belt designed to protect driver or passenger and minimise the injury. The laws is design more on compliance or what other people does we want to follow it but not designing to serve the intention of the seat belt.Logically, thess groups of uniform's authorities should be put as mandatory requirement. They are the group of peoples potret as an example to public and they dealing with high risk activities while on the road. Meaning that they have to drive fast to chase vilians, rushing for preventing fire become worse, rushing to save someone life and etc. My personal thought is life of the authority who preform the duty should be consider much more important than anything else because as basic principal we want people come to work in piece and return in piece. For the laws maker, they should be getting better view of what the intention of each requirement that is in place. Should this requirement remains or should be change?...I believed we all have the answer for that.
